Merimbula

Merimbula is the original home of Sapphire Coastal Adventures and we have operated here since 2008. The coastline surrounding Merimbula is breathtaking with long sweeping beaches, magnificent headlands and incredible wildlife.

Our Merimbula adventure tours depart from the calm waters of Merimbula Lake in our shallow draft vessel, out to Merimbula Bay and beyond.

We may head north towards Turingal Head in Bournda National Park, passing by coastal lakes, colourful cliffs and Bournda Island. Or we’ll head south past stunning Pambula River Mouth and out towards Haystack Rock and the Pinnacles in Beowa National Park.

On board Sensational II

Adventure vessel

14m shallow draft tourist vessel

50 pax capacity

We purchased Sensational II in late 2020 to operate from Merimbula as she is a shallow draft tourist vessel and perfect for crossing the Merimbula sandbar. She is spacious, 14 meters in length and in survey to carry 50 passengers. On most tours we limit this to 40 people to ensure a little more room for everyone. When fishing, we limit the numbers even further to 12 anglers. With three 425hp Yamaha engines she is fast, comfortable and fun!

She does have an onboard toilet and a canopy to keep the sun off. But you may get wet from salt spray and a warm and weatherproof jacket is important to keep warm in the wind. Rest assured you will have a smile on your face – it is invigorating!

She is fantastic for dolphin and whale watching, and the dolphins and whales love her! You will love her too – she helps you to get up close and personal with the ocean and its amazing wildlife.

Please note we do not recommend our Merimbula adventure tours for children under the age of 4 years.  Please book one of our Eden or Bermagui tours instead.
